By now, most of the world is aware that Sarah Palin’s young daughter Bristol is pregnant.   Thrust into the limelight by the recent announcement of her mother’s VP nomination,  this courageous young girl has decided to keep her baby. Five months pregnant, her parents have no doubt been aware of the situation for a little while, which would mean that John McCain knew that this issue would come to light shortly after announcing Palin’s nomination.   Pretty amazing.  Equally amazing is the comparison between the real life statement issued by Todd and Sarah Palin regarding their beloved daughter and Barrack Obama’s heinous quote regarding his own progeny:

“I’ve got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at the age of 16.

“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.

“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”

It’s interesting to note that Obama gives equal weight to pregnancy and an STD.  Both are a punishment. Can we expect any less from a man who won’t even support the Born Alive Infants Protection Act?   The contrast between these statements is stunning, and reveal what’s at the heart of the upcoming election.

Life and death…

I call heaven and earth today to witness against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live, by loving the Lord, your God, heeding his voice, and holding fast to him. (Deuteronomy 30:19-20a, New American Bible)
