As mom reveled in the glory of the new and recently delivered dishwasher, Emily found new and creative ways to play with her Alphabet of Catholic Saints.

The Grands had given Charlotte and Emily their old Nativity stable to play with…it’s quite lovely, covered with moss and even has a loft. Emily asked where Jesus, Mary and Joseph were. Mom pulled out three wooden doll forms, a few strokes of the paint brush and the Holy Family was ready to take up residence in the new stable.

Apparently, Emily decided they were lonely. And that the stable needed a few “enhancements.” Pretty soon, the Holy Family was surrounded by a host of Saints, several Gnomes and some holly…

The sweetest image? Emily holding my large wooden tree star over the baby Jesus’ head as He walked about. Everywhere Jesus went, the star went too!

And thus she played for hours…

Oh, to preserve these times…please Lord…keep her little just a wee bit longer…
