Take one unattractive, itchy, unwanted sweater (purchased for $1.99 at the thrift store!)…
A sharp pair of scissors, a sewing machine and a little ingenuity…
And you end up with a rather nifty bag, just perfect for toting a couple knitting projects, library books or whatever else suits you!
The entire project took only a few minutes, from start to finish. It’s not too late to give a couple handmade gifts…and look at how much sweater is left!! I foresee a couple needle bags or maybe even cut-and-sew mittens.
The thrift store is waiting for you…grab a couple sweaters and get started!
Speaking of gifts…those lovely walnut knitting needles? Hand-turned and finished by my dear husband, three years ago. My favorite needles, by far.
Nothing says “love” like handmade!

WOW! What a neat idea. I love the design pattern as an accent pocket.
We love the thrift store and are blessed to have one not to far from us.
I buy these types of sweaters, usually men’s because of the longer arm length, to make warm leggings for Mom and use the chest piece as a pullover vest, for cold days.
I don’t think I’d be able to make the cut-and-sew mittens, sounds complicated. Taking the sleeves off is one thing, because it doesn’t completely unravel but wouldn’t cutting through it cause it to unravel? I only have very basic knitting and crochet skills.
You’ve got my creative juices flowing. How about an accent pillow?
I don’t know where you find the time. You accomplish so much, in the run of a day. I think you’re amazing and an inspiration. God bless you.

Humble thanks, for all the kind comments!! It’s so easy…anyone can do it! As my boys continue to refuse to wear sweaters, I just might not need to utilize the thrift store…craft projects are as close as their closet!!
And Sandra…one of the boys asked for a pillow! Think about making that bolster we talked about…Mr. M. will cherish it!
